Just trying out new icons. Two today, both made from pictures by my friend J (WINOLJ) with his kind permission.

 Just been to GP

BP 125/91 (then 125/85 when repeated) which is getting towards respectable and not low enough for me to need to reduce my betablocker dose because of quitting smoking.

"Resting" (1) pulse rate now 87 bpm (down from 120) - result! The drugs do work!

Also, after a little wobble as my body settled in to them, the migraines seem to be settling. Bits and Bats of visual stuff and occasional verbal stuff but nothing debilitating or prolonged (touches wood furiously) and no sign of the cluster headache that I got on them last time.

In short, Propranolol FTW

Now I'm off to a camping meet to hang out with other crazy multigravidas (we're commuting though, not camping, so I'll be home later)

I've spent the afternoon feeling a bit tired and emotional and wondering why I didn't have the energy to do as much cleaning as I's hoped (despite the "cleaning playlist" which usually works)

Then I realised that, because L3 had made sandwiches for the Leverets at lunchtime, I'd actually forgotten to have any lunch myself. Doh!

Oh well, at least it means I'll get the most out of the roast dinner I've cooked - which will be ready in about 15 minutes - yum!

The geese from the lake next door made a very vocal exit at about 6.15pm.

Just thought some of you might like to know that.

Winter is coming :-)

On Monday I rescued a trumpet from my dad's house. He was keeping it in the shed!! (In the shed!!!)

It is his old one, the one he used to play the last post on at the town hall on rememberance day when i was a kid. The valves need attention but i think it'll clean up OK. He doesn't need it as he either plays cornet or tenor horn.

I was thinking of seeing if L3 wants to learn to play. L2 is learning violin but doing different things with 2 hands is a bit much for L3, so maybe brass is better. I might even have a go myself (I used to play tenor horn but haven't for years) Should be a laugh whatever.

I think I'm just about back down to earth now. This was my BiCon

Friday )

Saturday )

Sunday )

Monday )

I nearly didn’t make it due to last minute childcare trauma but I’m really glad I was there. I already have my leveret sitter booked for next year (thank you elfdragonlord) and I shall be there with bells on (well… with a corset on anyway… maybe bells… who can say?)

I'll be driving to Bicon on Friday 17th (probably early) from Northamptonshire. It's a very big car and so far it's just me, [livejournal.com profile] nohair and a huge box of lego (essential workshop resource)

I'm feeling guilty about the petrol - so anyone need a lift?

about 800 words done of my 2000 word essay and about on target (not waffly, not going to fall short) according to my new plan of "actually doing a detailed essay plan before starting writing".

I have until midnight Tuesday to do the electronic submission thing. Assuming that I actually do things like sleep, go to work and acknowledge the existence of [livejournal.com profile] nohair and the Leverets then I should get it done on time but might end up asking for a 24 hour extension just so I can come back to it after a break and rework bits I don't like. I know they recommend that but my brinkmanship of essay writing means i never usually have enough time left. Unfortunately the days of getting away with that seem to have come to an end, given my recent essay scores.

The laptop seems very useful in that I can do bits of the essay in spare slots of time without needing to remove myself from family life altogether - which actually makes for more concentration rather than less as the Leverets are not trashing the house/getting woken up by the fan on the PC/giving their dad a nervous breakdown while i am trying to create my pearls of wisdom.

However, sitting in an arm chair to write an essay is not good for one's posture and my back and shoulder blades are now complaining, which is not good as my shoulders feel a bit "out" anyway.
